The placement for the 2020-22 batch at the Indian Institute of Management in Nagpur, one of the new IIMs, has been completed, with over 60% of the batch choosing roles in IT, analytics, consumer goods, and consulting firms.
According to the IIM, its outgoing batch of 204 students received 100 percent placement via a virtual placement process. When compared to the previous placement season, the average compensation for the batch increased by 13.24 percent. Due to the pandemic outbreak, this batch was studied in a hybrid mode.
"We have successfully closed the placements for this year nearly two and a half months earlier than last year," said Prof Bhimaraya Metri, Director of IIM Nagpur, on December 16.
In this year's campus placement season, IIM-Nagpur saw a noticeable increase in the average and median package offered. While the average was 14.94 lakh per annum, a 13.24 percent increase over the previous year;This year, the highest package currently offered was Rs. 31.54 lakh per annum.
In general, older IIMs finish their placements in February and March. It means that top IIMs will conduct final placement for their outgoing batch in February-March 2022.
According to the IIM-Nagpur, it welcomed recruiters from industries such as consulting, BFSI, FMCG, Consumer Durables, Ed-Tech, E-Commerce, Analytics, and Logistics, and 45 firms visited for the first time.
Amazon, Cognizant, Deloitte Consulting, Bank of New York Mellon, ICICI Bank, ZS Associate, Microsoft, Salesforce, Accenture Technology, IBM, TVS Motors, L&T Infotech, Hexaware Technologies, Tech Mahindra, Byju's, Indus Valley Partners, Capgemini, and HCL Tech are among the key recruiters who hired from the IIM-Nagpur campus.
"Consulting and IT emerged as the most sought-after sectors, followed by BFSI and FMCG/FMCD, with over 60% of the batch choosing companies in these sectors." Logistics, E-Commerce, Conglomerate, and Ed-Tech also participated this year, with more than 15% of the batch choosing profiles in these sectors," the B-School said.
